National Indoor Tournament Champions!

Blog #20.02

u16 Green Club Team makes Koa History!

The month of February is the pinnacle of the indoor field hockey season with everything on the line for teams across the nation! USA Field Hockey hosts the National Indoor Tournament for u10 – u19 teams over the course of 3 long weekends during the entire month of February! This season, Koa sent a total of 5 teams to compete on the National stage: u10, u12, u14 Green, u14 White and u16 Green.

Each of our teams competed hard and put their hearts on the line with the goal of being named a National Champion. There were intense games, hard fought battles and sweat, smiles and Koa pride left on the court in Lancaster, PA! When the dust settled at the end of each weekend, a bunch of Koa teams earned high finishes in their respective pools – and one Koa team took home the National Championship!

The Koa u16 Club Program is only 5 years old (just a baby in the Club FH scene!), and has never earned a qualifying spot to the USAFH National Indoor Tournament. The past few seasons, we have come up just short – with one season just missing out in a sudden death shootout during the qualifier!

However, everything changed this Winter! Our u16 Green Team traveled to Spooky Nook, PA with confidence and something to prove – they belonged! But the road would not be easy and would challenge them over the 3-day weekend! But with confidence and teamwork – they can accomplish anything!

Their first game of the tournament was against local arch-rival: Washington Wolves. Koa fought hard, scored first and never looked back with an impressive 3-1 win versus the Wolves. During Day #2, they continued to fuel their confidence and came out with two more wins (2-0 vs Lone Star and 2-1 vs Philly Hockey Club). Going into the final day of competition, Koa was set to play the other undefeated team in their pool: FSC Black. With everything on the line for both teams during this game, Koa was able to hold on for a 1-1 tie! Now, all they needed to do was win their final game on Day #3 to clinch Koa’s first ever u16 National Championship! Letting their adrenaline fuel them, Koa defeated the Buffalo Hurricanes 4-0 and were crowned Champions.

At their first ever appearance at the u16 National Indoor Tournament, Koa Green ended the weekend as National Champions with an overall record of: 4 – 0 – 1.

All of our Koa coaches, players and parents are extremely proud of all of our teams and how they represented Koa on the National Stage! We can’t wait to see what Koa accomplishes during the Spring Season!

u16 Green: 1st Place
u14 Green: 2nd Place
u12: 3rd Place (by goal differential)
u14 White: 5th Place
u10: 6th Place

Winter Rec League Champions!

This past Saturday our Winter Rec League came to an end and it sure was a season to remember! Our last day of Rec League is a tournament style play day where the teams compete against each other for the title of Rec League Champions!

All of the games were hard fought and played with a lot of intensity and team work up until the final whistle. All of our players have improved so much on their skills and their game sense. It was great to see everything come together for our Championship Day.

Congratulations to all of our Champions! We are so proud of all of our players and hope to see everyone on the field this Spring!
