Koa Hoops Wins 5 Championships!

This past weekend, the winter hoops season came to a close. We are happy to announce that it was our most successful season as a basketball program as we brought home FIVE championships! Congratulations to our 3rd Grade, 4th Grade, 5th East, 5th West, and 6th Grade team’s for bringing home (Koa HQ) more hardware!

Our 3rd Grade team led by Coach Jeff & Coach Mikhail defeated MBA 3rd in the Supreme Basketball League. These boys came together and got the job done as this was only their second season together!

The Koa Green Wave 4th Grade team finally took home a title after being on the brink of a championship the past couple seasons. Led by Coach Jay-D who has put together a solid roster;the boys played their best basketball defeating Tru2Form in the Supreme Basketball League 4th Grade Championship!

How about our 5th Grade teams? Both our East and West team swept the division and brought home TWO Rising Star Championships in their respective brackets. The East team, led by Coach Antony was clicking on all cylinders and hit their stride at the right time. With great ball movement, communication and teamwork, the eight-man roster all played a part and helped Coach Antony get another title for Koa Sports by defeating Olney Warriors in the championship.

The West team led by Coach Rafriel had a great fall season which ended in defeat in the championship came back this winter for revenge, and did they get it; ending the winter season with a perfect 10-0 season and cruising to a victory in the championship versus G’Town. Their suffocating defense and aggressiveness helped pave the way and was a staple for the success of the West team.

Finally our 6th Grade team, led by Coach Brandon and Coach Jeremy. This is Coach Brandon’s fifth title in six seasons with the core of five-six players! Each year the limits are tested and the boys are pushed a little harder and further as their best is always demanded. The season was not always easy as they went 9-1 and defeated 6th Man in the championship.

Overall, all eight of our teams combined for a 40-26 record which is the best to date for the Koa basketball program. We look to continue the success and develop the boy’s passion for basketball while developing their skills individually and as a team!
