Fall BABL 2019 – Week 2
It was another beautiful Saturday for Koa baseball! We had some great match up this week, – Several nail biters, a couple dominant wins and the first “W” for our new BABL A expansion team The Hot Rods!
Legends vs. Riverdogs
The Legends continued the hot start to the season with a big win over the Riverdogs, 21-1. Nick G., Jackson A., and Grant N. from the Legends combined to give up only 1 run. The Legends scored 12 runs in the third inning to put the game away. The Legends offensive firepower was led by Adam K., Jaymes A., Max R., Jackson A., and Nicholas G., who all drove in runs. Alex B. for the Legends played a great game with 3 hits, 2 RBI, and solid defense all day. Theo L. toed the rubber for the Riverdogs. He lasted two innings, striking out 5 and walking 1. Mac W., Paul T., and Mitchell H. each contributed in relief for the Riverdogs. Mitchell H. led the Riverdogs with one hit at bat.

Lugnuts vs. Hot Rods
Lugnuts defeated the Hot Rods 6-5 after an intense back and forth battle! Rafi D. from the Lugnuts pitched a great game. Brendan M. kept the Lugnuts in the game with a clutch two-run single, however it was not enough as the Hot Rods pitching got the job done. Jacob H. started on the mound for the Hot Rods and pitched two great innings while racking up 4 strikeouts. Erick B. came on the mound for one inning, striking out 2 then Owen G. followed with pitching two great innings with 4 strikeouts. Aaron S. closed it out for the Hot Rods to pick up the save in nail-bitter. Hot Rods drew 8 walks and collected key hits by Jacob H., Aaron S. and Caleb S.

Drillers vs. Thunder
Drillers came out strong in week two with a big win over the Thunder 20-4. Ian L. started the mound for the Drillers and pitched beautifully. It was the Drillers patience at the plate that helped get the victory with 16 scored runs in the top of the third to put the game out of reach. Ryan S. started on the mound for the Thunder, picking up 5 strikeouts in 2 ⅔ innings. Hunter M. relieved Ryan S. in the top of the third to end the inning. He had a great game with 2 singles and 4 stolen bases.

Biscuits vs. Lookouts
Lookouts fell to the Biscuits 4-1. Despite the great pitching by Jake R., Sam R., and Quinn W. for the Lookouts, the Biscuits were able to score 4 runs on scattered hits by Connor M., Grayson T. and Timmy V. The bats were quiet for the Lookouts as the Biscuits pitching outmatched them. Luke W-N. dominated on the mound as he fanned 8 batters of 4 no-hit innings.. Connor M. for the Biscuits had a great game behind the plate while also pitching two innings with 5 strikeouts, and had a great tag-out at home.

Bulls vs. Tides
The Tides lost a tough battle to the Bulls 15 – 3. Ryan K. started on the mound for the Tides and pitched 2 strong innings. Luke P. had a great game on the mound for the Bulls striking out four and only allowing 2 hits over three innings. The Bulls totaled 9 hits. Bobby B., Zachary B. and Will M. all collected multiple hits for the Bulls. Bobby B. went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the Bulls in hits. Kelly led the Bulls with 3 stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with a total of 6 stolen bases.

Mud Hens vs. Iron Pigs
The Iron Pigs were able to pull out a 12-12 tie after being down 11-3 to the Mud Hens. Noah S. started on the mound for the Mud Hens and pitched three innings giving up 4 runs a with a couple of strikeouts. Noah S. also had 2 great hits to the outfield. Gabe S. came in for relief for the Mud Hens and closed out the game. Nathan M. for the Iron Pigs pitched 2.2 great innings. During the Iron Pigs rally, Jayden B. had 2 big hits driving in 4 runs.
