When did you start playing Field Hockey?
I started playing in middle school during gym class and my gym teacher thought I was good and recommended I pursue the support outside of school. The rest is history 🙂
Did you play in college?
I played for Bryn Mawr College. I was mostly center forward.
Why did you decide to start coaching?
I played on several club teams following college and realized that just playing wasn’t enough and I wanted to share my passion for the sport with others. I started coaching the JV team at St. John’s College High School before I discovered Koa.
How long have you been coaching with Koa?
I’ve been with Koa since 2011. I’ve coached every season of rec (K-8th), clinics, U12 club team, and now I coach the Elite U14 club team.
What is your favorite coaching memory?
When my U12 girls won their first tournament. Getting that trophy was awesome and well deserved!!!
What is one piece of advice that you would give to an aspiring field hockey player?
NEVER GIVE UP! Field Hockey is a game of mistakes and it’s how you respond to those mistakes that’s going to make the difference.
What do you do for fun when you’re not coaching?
I love hanging out and taking long walks with my dogs. I have a long-hair chihuahua and a mutt.
What is one Coach Rachel Fun Fact that most people don’t know about you?
I’ve run 3 half marathons and I’m currently training for my fourth which I’ll run this fall.
