FALL BABL RUNDOWN: WEEK 1 FALL 2021

Fall BABL Opening Day was Amazing

 I am looking forward to another great season! Scoring (football-like) was plentiful this weekend, with touchdowns/field goals/extra points, and lots of hitting. However, there were too many walks this weekend! This week, PITCHING will be the FOCUS at clinics so we can have faster-paced games and get the defense more involved. Please see below for game recaps, team standings, & photos!

BABL A Results:

Bees 18-6 Lugnuts

The Bees pulled out a big victory over the Lugnuts. Using strong timely hitting and solid pitching, the Bees pulled away. The Lugnuts fought hard and made some tough defensive plays. From the Lugnuts, Declan C. pitched 2 very strong innings. From the Bees, Matthew H. pitched 2 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts and Everett F. added 3 hits, including a grand slam and 6 runs batted in.

Legends 5-1 Hot Rods

The Legends used strong pitching to pull out the win over the Hot Rods. Both teams played solid defense and used good pitching to keep the game close. From the Hot Rods, Tim C. and Hank B. each threw 3 solid innings and Tommy B. added a late run batted in. For the Legends, Mian W. threw 3 shutout innings followed by Austin W. allowing 1 run over 3 innings. Max N. added 2 hard line drives including a triple.

 

BABL AA Results:

Thunder 24-10 Baysox

The Thunder used a big inning to pull away for the victory. The Baysox jumped out to an early lead in the first. The Thunder followed it up with a 16 run inning in the second. From Thunder, Cameron D. went 3-3 with a double and Zeke went 2-2 with 2 doubles. Marcelo S. was exceptional behind the plate throwing a runner out at third. From the Baysox, Ryan M. went 2-2 with 4 stolen bases and Andrew H. had a solid pitching performance.

 

Drillers 16-3 Lookouts

The Drillers used strong pitching and hitting to pull out the big victory over the Lookouts. The Lookouts got off to a good start in the first inning. However, the Drillers were able to bounce back and seize control of the game. For the Drillers, Luke V. went 2-3 with a triple and added 4 innings pitched allowing only 3 earned runs. For the Lookouts, Grayden F. was excellent behind the plate and added a hit and a walk at the plate.

 

Senators 15-4 Trash Pandas

The Senators were able to pull out a big victory over the Trash Pandas. The Senators scored big late in the game to pull away. For the Trash Pandas, PJ W. went 1-1 with 2 stolen bases and Sam B. pitched 2 solid innings. For the Senators, Michael B. pitched 5 innings allowing only 2 earned runs and Anil S. went 2-3 with a walk and 2 runs batted in.

 

BABL AAA Results:

Clippers 13-9 Tides

The Clippers had a close victory over Tides in a hard-fought game. The Clippers showed great patience at the plate and used smart baserunning to tally runs in. From the Tides, James M. and Michael C. got big hits. The rest of the team showed patience and drew a lot of walks at the plate. For the Clippers. Ethan H, pitched 1 scoreless inning and showed great baserunning ability, while Carter B. was very solid behind the plate.

Iron Pigs 17-7 Mud Hens

The Iron Pigs jumped out to a lead early and used it to propel them to victory. The Mud Hens showed a lot of fight scoring 6 runs in the last inning. For the Mud Hens, Will Z. had a solid pitching performance and Diego went 1-3 with a double and 2 runs batted in. From the Iron Pigs, Sean B. pitched 3 innings allowing 0 hits and Luke M. added 2 hits and a walk.

 

Bison 10-4 Bulls

The Bison secured a strong victory over the Bulls.  Even though the Bulls had some good runs, they were unable to overcome the deficit. From the Bulls, Zach J. Went 1-2 with 2 runs batted in and Charlie T. had 2 strong innings pitched. From the Bison, Michael L. pitched 3 solid innings and Jason P. had some key hits down the stretch.
