BABL Week 5 Recap
Another great weekend for some Koa baseball with awesome weather and close match ups!
BABL player registration deadline is 10/25/2019. If you are playing Spring 2020 BABL, you do not need to tryout again, please go on SI Play and reregister for the BABL season. If you are a new player or wish to tryout for one of our travel teams tryout info is below:
Koa Baseball tryouts will be on October 27th, 2019 at Koa HQ (4960 Boiling Brook Pkwy Rockville, MD 20852). Tryout times:
- 10U: 11:00am to 12:30pm
- 11U – 12U: 12:30pm to 2:00pm
- 13-15U: 2:00pm to 3:30pm.

BABL A:
Bees vs. Riverdogs
Riverdogs stung the Bees coming out with a 8-3 win. Bees got the early lead with great hits by Ryan M. and Toby Y. However, Riverdogs answered back in the 4th and took the game over as their bats came alive. Leading the way for the Riverdogs was Topher T., Franklyn B., and Paul T. Mack W. started on the mound for the Riverdogs and Topher T. came in for relief throwing 3 scoreless innings with 8 strikeouts.

Legends vs. Riverdogs
Legends came away with a 21 – 3 victory over the Riverdogs. Legends put the pressure on right away as their bats were hot from the start with Grant N. leading the way with hits. The Legends pitching was also on fire, holding the Riverdogs to only 5 hits. Nick G. from the Legends pitched 2 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts. Daniel P. from the Riverdogs had a good game with multiple hits and pitching two quality innings

Hot Rods vs. Lugnuts
Lunguts defeated the Hot Rods 9-3. Rafi P.C. for the Lugnuts had great hits and Rafi D. was a force on the base paths. However, it was the Lugnuts defense that carried them to the win, led by Flynn F. at shortstop. Jack E. from the Lungnuts pitched a great game. Hot Rods look the lead in the top of the 3rd on a bases cleaning double by Caleb S., but the momentum did not continue. Despite the Hot Rods making better contact with the bat, the Lugnuts defense came to play.

BABL AA:
Biscuits vs. Thunder
Thunder lost to the Biscuits 17-6. Grant L. started on the mound for Thunder and pitched a great game with 9 strikeouts; Ethan H. came in for relief. Thunder bats were lead by Ethan H., Everett C. and Thomas S. Luke W. started on the mound for the Biscuits finishing with 9 strikeouts. The bats were hot for the Biscuits in the 3rd and 4th with 10 runs scored led by Drew L., Timmy V., Evan P., and Jason P. Evan P. came in for relief for the Biscuits only giving up one run with 4 strikeouts. Jason P. finished on the mound for the Biscuits closing the game with a strikeout.

Thunder vs. Drillers
Drillers defeated the Thunder 15-6. Ryan S. singled to lead off the game for Thunder and scored on a hit by Ethan H. Jude B. made his AA pitching debut for the Thunder with Grady O. and Hannah S. coming in for relief. Thunder’s bats were led by Eli W., Hannah S., Thomas S., Cameron D., Ryan S., and Aaron Z. Drillers pitchers Ian S., Ben H., and Lucas T. were on fire and brought home the win.

Lookouts vs. Bay Sox
Lookouts lost to the Bay Sox 10-4. Zach J. led the Lookouts offense with some great hits. Lookouts timely defense kept it close, but it was not enough to compete. Kei K. started on the mound for the Lookouts and went 3 innings allowing 2 runs behind great defense from Isaac M. and Jack A. Sean B. came in for relief and Taisei K. closed it out. Bay Sox offense was lead by Tommy S., Nathaniel T., and Sean B. Hugh caught the game behind the plate from Bay Sox and did an outstanding job.

BABL AAA:
Iron Pigs vs. Tides
Tides defeated the Iron Pigs 11-7. Tides were lead by a strong pitching performance from Bill M. Edward C. from the Tides was the top performer at the plate with 3 strong hits. It was the Tides great defense as a team that got them the win. The Iron Pigs tried to rally at the end of the game with Zach D. leading it off with great plays in the outfield, but it was not enough.

Red Wings vs. Bulls
The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where Bulls came out on top against the Red Wings, 12-10. Bulls took the lead with 7 runs in the second inning with big hits by Jacob K., Zachary B., Robert B., and Will M. Zachary B. started on the mound for the Bulls with Luke P. coming in for relief. Luke P. recorded the last 11 outs to earn the save for the Bulls.
