October 2019 Newsletter!
WOW! What an amazing World Series, and go Nats! The parade is Saturday 11/2 and I hope your family can witness this once in a lifetime celebration. I know if my boys were older, I would be taking them downtown to enjoy the crowd, music (Baby Shark- doo-doooo), and positive energy. This Nationals team was unique, they were 19-31 and in last place in May. Several of their star players were sidelined with injuries, and they were never in first place in their division. Their grit, fight, and resilience (they battled through 5 elimination games) is one to admire, as well as the team chemistry and we over me. The 2019 team truly exemplifies one of Koa’s core values, Team First.
In a world where analytics (object measures) of exit velocity, launch angle, spin rates, etc….dominate scouting, what about subject value to a ball club? The closely-knit clubhouse, support from management, executing timely trades made this Nationals Team. The next time you step on the diamond, court, turf, with your team think about caring more about your teammates than yourself, take that WE over ME approach and watch how that improves your overall game. GO Nats! As a third-generation Washingtonian, I never thought I would say, “it’s no longer a Redskins town!”
Another positive note- the construction for Koa’s new office/parent mezzanine viewing area begins Monday. Pardon our dust, the goal is to finish the project by 1/1/2020 and have all the furniture ready by 2/1/2020. We are excited to improve the parent viewing experience inside our state of the art training facility.
Thanks for your continued support!
PS- I was recently featured by iHeart Media as a CEO’s You Should Know- take a listen to the interview below if you have 90 seconds.

Coach of the Month:
Coach Evan started at Koa in Summer 2019 and has been a kid favorite coach since. You will find Coach Evan spending his Saturdays with Koa Sports going from Koa Future Stars to Speed and Agility Training to Flag Football. While studying to become a personal trainer, Coach Evan has been working with our Koa kids to enhance their footwork, agility, and strength. Congratulations Coach Evan! Thank you for all your hard work and for helping these kids further their love for sports!
Athlete of the Month:
Olivia played on the U14 Black DT this season. If she wasn’t at practice before everyone else working on her skills, she was always asking what she can do to improve her game. She is always working extremely hard and is someone her teammates can rely on! Olivia is a great team player and leader, both on and off the field!
